How to properly measure a Furniture Leg for FELT Chair Socks
Use the units of measurement you are familiar with (mm, cm or inches).
Measure with a ruler or tape measure.
There are several ways to measure.
If the furniture leg is ROUND-shaped:
Way 1. Measure the DIAMETER (external width) of the furniture leg.
Way 2. If the furniture is heavy and you cannot measure the diameter directly on a furniture, place a piece of paper under the furniture leg, outline the furniture leg on it, remove the paper, and measure the DIAMETER from the paper.
Way 3. Measure the CIRCUMFERENCE (around the furniture leg).
If the furniture leg is SQUARE-shaped:
Way 1. Measure the SIDES of the furniture leg.
Way 2. Measure the CIRCUMFERENCE (around the furniture leg).
Way 3. Place a piece of paper under the furniture leg, outline the leg, remove the paper, and measure the SIDES of the furniture leg from the paper.
If the furniture leg is RECTANGULAR-shaped:
Way 1. Measure TWO SIDES of the furniture leg (the shorter and the longer).
Way 2. Place a piece of paper under the furniture leg, outline the leg, remove the paper, and measure TWO SIDES (the shorter and the longer) of the furniture leg from the paper.
If the furniture leg is OVAL-shaped:
Way 1. Measure TWO DIAMETERS (he shorter and the longer external widths) of the furniture leg.
Way 2. If the furniture is heavy and you cannot measure diameters directly on a furniture, place a piece of paper under the furniture leg, outline the leg, remove the paper, and measure TWO DIAMETERS (he shorter and the longer external widths) of the furniture leg from the paper.
If the furniture leg is TRIANGULAR-shaped:
Way 1. Measure ALL THREE SIDES of the furniture leg.
Way 2. Place a piece of paper under the furniture leg, outline the leg, remove the paper, and measure ALL THREE SIDES from the paper.
If the furniture leg is TRAPEZOIDAL-shaped and is ANGLED (square, rectangular or triangular):
Step 1. Measure ALL SIDES of the furniture leg at the BOTTOM.
Step 2. Measure ALL SIDES of the furniture leg at the TOP (7 cm / 2.8" above from the bottom).
If the furniture leg is TRAPEZOIDAL-shaped and is ROUND or OVAL:
Step 1. Measure AROUND of the furniture leg at the BOTTOM.
Step 2. Measure AROUND of the furniture leg at the TOP (7 cm / 2.8" above from the bottom).
